The short version: Signpost today is an answering platform for the trades: an AI voice receptionist plus 24/7 live receptionists, published at $199–749 a month with a $199 setup fee on every plan, bundled minutes, and per-minute overages, as of July 2026. Missed-call text-back is one feature inside that platform. What Signpost actually is
If you remember Signpost as marketing software, that’s the old company: it started in 2010 selling SMB marketing automation, sold that platform to Hibu in September 2023, and now sells phone answering. The current product is an AI voice receptionist that picks up in two rings, live receptionists covering 24/7, a texting inbox, and instant responses to leads from places like Angi and Facebook. It aims at the same businesses we do: HVAC, plumbers, electricians, roofers, contractors. It runs on call forwarding, so your number stays put, and live receptionists can book appointments into tools like Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan. The meter, up front
Signpost publishes three plans, as of July 2026: $199 a month (500 AI minutes), $399 a month (500 AI minutes plus 100 live minutes), and $749 a month (500 AI plus 250 live minutes), each with a $199 setup fee. Past the bundle, extra AI time is $0.40 a minute and extra live-receptionist time is $1.90–2.10 a minute, and its terms measure each receptionist call as its duration plus 60 seconds. Its pricing page lists no free trial and no money-back guarantee, and per its terms, updated March 2025, cancelling takes written notice at least 30 days before your next billing period plus a confirming phone call during Central-time business hours, with no pro-rata refund of prepaid fees.
BeepBack is $79 a month, flat, published on this site. No setup fee, no bundled minutes, no overage math, no notice window. Miss three calls or three hundred: same price. Cancel in the app whenever you want, and you’re not charged until your number is live.
Answering the call, or recovering it
Signpost’s answer to a missed call is to make sure it never happens: something picks up every time, an AI in two rings or a human at 2 AM. That’s a real answering service, and if that’s what you want, Signpost genuinely does it and BeepBack doesn’t. We wrote up how that category prices out in the answering service comparison.
BeepBack’s answer is different: let the phone ring like it always has, and when you can’t get to it, win the caller back by text. Seconds after the call rings out, the caller gets a text from your business asking what they need, how soon (1 = emergency/today), where, and their name. So which one fits?
If you want every call answered by a voice, transfers handled, and appointments booked by a live receptionist into your field software, that’s Signpost’s product, and the honest move is to price it with your real call volume against the bundled minutes. Some shops need exactly that.
If the actual problem is the calls that ring out while you’re under a sink or up a ladder, you don’t need a receptionist platform sized around it.
