How the math works
Yearly loss = missed calls per week × 52 × the share who would have booked × your average ticket. Payback months = your average ticket ÷ $79. Nothing here is an industry average. It’s your inputs, multiplied. We capped the close rate at 3 in 10 on purpose, because a number you believe is worth more to us than a bigger one you don’t. The one outside fact worth knowing is that most people who hit voicemail don’t leave a message or call back. They just call the next business in the search results.
What missed-call text-back pays back
The payback figure above is the whole return case in one number: how many months of BeepBack a single recovered job covers, at your own average ticket. At a $300 ticket that’s just under four months, so saving one job a quarter puts you ahead. Most trades clear it faster than that, because the calls that roll to voicemail tend to be the urgent ones, and urgent jobs carry bigger tickets.
Two things the calculator leaves out on purpose, both in your favor. It counts only the first job, never the repeat work or the referrals that come with a customer you kept. And it assumes every recovered caller books at your average ticket, when emergency work usually runs higher. Treat the number as a floor, not a forecast.
The other side, said plainly: this is arithmetic on your own inputs, not a promise. Pull last week’s real missed-call list and skip the obvious spam. If what’s left is small, the money case is small too, and what BeepBack mostly buys you is not being the one who has to answer the phone between jobs. Then see exactly what’s included.

Self-serve setup. Nothing to install, and you keep your number.
- Sign up and forward your line. Your missed calls get answered the same day. The caller hears a greeting in your business’s name, and whatever they say lands in your dashboard as a lead you can read or play, with a text and an email to you the moment it does. Forwarding is one code dialed once, and the app shows you your carrier’s with your number already filled in. About ten minutes, nothing to install, EIN or no EIN. Sole proprietors welcome: a one-time code texted to your cell verifies you, and we never ask for your SSN.
- Meanwhile the phone carriers approve your texting number. About two weeks, sometimes longer. Nothing for you to do while it runs. They register the number under your business’s name, which is why your texts land instead of getting flagged. The wait is on their end and you are not charged for it. Your free month starts when the texting does.
- Then the text-back switches on by itself. Missed callers start getting texted in seconds. That is the day your texting goes live, so that is the day your free month starts. Billing only begins after that.
